Electricity Now™ is a bilingual, standardized science education resource designed for Grade 9 and 10 students, developed collaboratively by Electricity Canada and Electricity Human Resources Canada and supported by leading electricity industry organizations.

  • Through this resource, we help bridge the gaps in electricity and climate change topics, preparing students to understand and contribute to climate solutions.
  • Aligned with the pan-Canadian science curriculum, Electricity NowTM offers a practical, teacher-friendly “electricity and climate change program in a box” that simplifies complex topics through 6 modules and 13 engaging lessons, including hands-on activities, multimedia resources, and comprehensive teacher and student notes.
  • Electricity Now™ aims not only to educate but also to inspire, fostering career visioning and supporting Canada’s transition to a sustainable energy future.

Why teach this program?

Electricity Now™ closes current electricity and climate change education gaps while also providing career visioning opportunities to youth.

Electricity Now™ is designed to be taught in class over 6 – 8 weeks.

The Electricity Now™ development costs have been paid for by founding organizations and Registered Power Partners to remove the funding burden from school boards.

The Electricity Now™ implementation costs within each Power Partner service territory will be determined by the speed, scale, and scope of the desired rollout in consultation between the local Power Partner and individual school boards. The desire is to minimize costs to school boards.

Electricity Now™ is built on the mandated National Canadian Grade 9/10 Science Curriculum, and includes:

  • 6 Modules of 2 Lessons each plus an Introductory Lesson – Total 13 Lessons
  • Several applicable videos and websites to enhance learning
  • Activities for academic and hands-on learners
  • Teacher notes
  • Student notes

Electricity Now™ Is provided digitally in the teaching formats most commonly used in schools today such as Google Slides, Microsoft, etc.

Electricity NowTM is being systematically rolled out by registered Electricity NowTM Power Partners to interested school boards across Canada. Fill out the contact form to learn more about availability in your school board.
